You don't need a stand to change motorcycle oil, but it can be easier to do so by turning the motorcycle upside down and letting the oil drain from the fill point. For example, you can use a jackstand under the brake side spool or bolt, then lean the bike onto the jackstand, and then slide another jackstand under the spool or bolt.
Here are some other ways to change motorcycle oil without a stand:
Use a container: Use a shallow container, like a kitty litter box, that's low enough to catch the oil from the drain plug and filter area.
Use a piece of wood: Put a piece of 2X4 or 2X6 under the sidestand so the oil pan can slide under.
Use the side stand: Change the oil while the bike is on the side stand.
Some recommend using factory filters, as they're the best and recommended.
